AESO is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead interconnection studies and develop engineering solutions for project challenges within Alberta's transmission network. You will run power flow, stability, and short-circuit studies, justify interconnection options, and coordinate with internal teams and market participants to support AESO’s Connection Process.

The role requires a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, P.Eng.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering required; professional registration (APEGA, P.Eng.) is an asset.
• 8–10 years engineering experience in electric utilities, with power systems exposure.

The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) is responsible for the safe, reliable, and economic planning and operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System. Through the AESO's Connection Process, the Customer Access Studies (CAS) team performs and reviews project interconnection engineering studies that support the reliable integration of new generation, load, and transmission-connected projects into Alberta's power system.Reporting to the Manager, Customer Access Studies, the Senior Engineer is responsible for running interconnection engineering studies and developing engineering solutions to project challenges that support customer connection projects. You will provide technical decision-making, engineering assessments, documentation, and technical regulatory support to facilitate System Access Service Requests to the AIES.
