Job summary

TechDoQuest is seeking a Software and Hardware Senior Engineer with a strong aerospace background to join our team in Canada. The role focuses on reviewing airborne software/hardware designs, ensuring compliance with DO-178/DO-254, and guiding supplier activities in Toronto and Montreal.

Candidates should have extensive experience (15+ years) in engineering, including at least 10 years in aeronautics, plus hands-on FPGA/ASIC or embedded software work for aerospace applications.

Qualifications

• University degree in Electronics, Software, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
• 15+ years in technical engineering; 10+ years in aeronautics.
• 5+ years FPGA/ASIC and/or embedded software in aerospace.
• Knowledge of airborne software and hardware guidance and Means of Compliance.
• Familiarity with DO-178B/C, DO-248B/C, DO-254, DO-330.
• Familiarity with EASA CM-SWCEH-002/001 and FAA ACs.
• DOORS and JAMA for requirements capture.
• Proficiency in C, C++, Ada95, Assembly, Python.
• Embedded computer architectures and RTOS concepts.
• Experience with civil aircraft and airworthiness authorities.

Responsibilities

• Review supplier airborne software and electronic hardware designs for compliance.
• Participate in client preliminary and critical system design reviews.
• Assess certification plans and supplier designs (FPGA/ASIC, embedded software).
• Perform audits at supplier facilities and safety reviews.
• Lead resolution of safety, compliance or technical deficiencies with stakeholders.
• Prepare and review design compliance reports.
• Contribute to evolution of the SWEL domain roadmap.
• Mentor less experienced professionals.

This job posting is for an existing, active vacancy and We are looking to hire Software and Hardware Senior Engineer in Toronto, ON, Canada (On-site) & Montreal, QC (On-site), immediately who has strong experience in airborne software and electronic (FPGA, ASIC, PLD) designs.

Role Overview:

In your role, you will review and assess supplier’s airborne software and electronic hardware designs to ensure they meet Client’s technical requirements and regulatory requirements. In order to achieve this, you will:

• Participate to Client preliminary and critical system design reviews.
• Review and assess supplier’s airborne software and electronic hardware certification plans.
• Review and assess supplier’s airborne software and electronic (FPGA, ASIC, PLD) designs.
• Perform technical and process audits at supplier’s facilities.
• Perform safety of flight reviews.
• Assess software and hardware test results and analyses and determine final compliance status.
• Lead the resolution of safety, compliance or technical deficiencies with the suppliers and Client stakeholders.
• Prepare and/or review design compliance reports.
• Contribute to evolution of the SWEL (Software and Electronics) domain roadmap.
• Mentor less experienced professionals.

Required Skills:

• You hold a university engineering degree in Electronics, Software, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
• You have a minimum of 15 years of experience in a technical engineering field, including a minimum of 10 years in aeronautics.
• You have a minimum of 5 years of FPGA or ASIC development and / or embedded software development for aerospace applications.
• You have thorough working knowledge of airborne software and electronic hardware guidance and Means of Compliances
• RTCA DO-178B/C, DO-248B/C, DO-254, DO-330
• EASA CM-SWCEH-002 (associated with DO-178B) and CM-SWCEH-001
• FAA AC 20-115D and AC 20-152A
• FAA Order 8110.49A and 8110.105A
• You have knowledge of requirements capture environments (DOORS, JAMA)
• You have working knowledge of multiple programming languages (C, C++, Ada95, Assembly, Python) and multiple hardware description languages.
• You have knowledge of embedded computer architectures.
• You have knowledge of operating systems and real-time executives.
• You have general knowledge in electronics and software programming.
• You have experience with civil aircraft and airworthiness authorities.
