Job description

Responsibilities:

  1. Lend expertise to the formation of HR strategies related to employee engagement, change management, and inclusive workplace practices.
  2. Advise team leaders on topics such as return to work plans, employee absenteeism, and Performance Improvement Plans (PIP).
  3. Manage complex case files and grievance processes by researching case law, collaborating with legal counsel, and coaching leaders on resolution plans.
  4. Build and maintain strong relationships with union representatives to support effective business operations.
  5. Lead workplace investigations and support collective bargaining efforts by preparing research, developing continuity plans, and coaching on employee issues.

Who you’ll work with :

You will be part of the Employee & Labour Relations team, reporting to a manager with a coaching-focused leadership style. You will support stakeholders within the Co-operative Retailing System (CRS), mainly focusing on the Co-op Refinery Complex. You’ll also collaborate with professionals across CRS, including health & safety, legal, and local Co-ops.

We support local Co-ops in growth and success by providing services such as marketing, research, IT, HR, accounting, risk management, and business development.

Who you are :

  • Minimum of 6-9 years of relevant HR experience in a unionized environment, focusing on labour relations (relevant education and experience may be combined).
  • Bachelor of commerce or business administration, preferably with a major in human resources.
  • Familiar with employee relations, collective bargaining, and grievance/arbitration processes.
