Job summary

Innovobot Labs in Montreal seeks a senior embedded and electrical engineer to design, implement, and test embedded systems for Human-Machine Interfaces, robotics, AI, IoT and sensing solutions.

You will lead cross‑disciplinary teams, manage project timelines and deliver production‑ready boards, using Altium or Eagle, with experience across STM and Nordic platforms, RF/peripherals, EMI/EMC considerations and robust verification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field.
• 7+ years of embedded hardware development experience.
• Proficient in C/C++ and Python for embedded systems.
• Experience with production-ready PCB design and boards shipped in volume.
• Experience with multiple embedded platforms, FPGA, RF & peripherals (STM and Nordic families).
• Strong problem-solving skills and fast-paced work ability.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a senior embedded and electrical engineer to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Director of Systems Engineering, you will be responsible for designing, implementing and testing embedded systems, with a focus on embedded electronics and integration for human machine interfaces and haptics, industrial, MedTech and sensing solutions. You will collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to bring our visionary projects to life, ensuring they meet our standards of efficiency, innovation, and quality.

What you will do

• Oversee the entire lifecycle of an embedded system, from ideation and prototyping to deployment.
• Lead the design and execution of embedded engineering projects, working closely with systems engineers and embedded software engineers.
• Communicate with clients, users, and stakeholders to understand their requirements, expectations, and feedback. Ensure that the embedded solution meets technical specifications, quality standards, and business objectives.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop robust embedded systems for human machine interfaces, industrial, sensing and MedTech solutions, emphasizing modularity and scalability.
• Design, simulate and test analog and digital circuits. Measure and design for electromagnetic interference and electromagnetic compatibility.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to system integration, hardware, and software. Conduct rigorous testing and validation of systems to ensure functionality, safety, and reliability.
• Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in embedded systems.
• Contribute to the development of intellectual property by documenting novel solutions and ideas
• Plan and execute projects, manage timelines, and communicate progress to stakeholders.
• Prepare technical documentation, user manuals, and support materials for internal and client use.

Who you are

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in embedded hardware development, including hands-on experience with designing, developing, and testing embedded systems.
• Proficiency in PCB design tools like Altium, Eagle, and embedded systems programming such as C/C++ and Python.
• Experience with design for production. Designing boards that have shipped in moderate to high volumes.
• Experience with multiple embedded platforms, FPGA, RF & peripherals. STM and Nordic chip families
• Proficient in control systems, signal acquisition and data processing.
• Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to troubleshoot complex systems and work in a fast-paced environment.
