Job description

Req ID: 523635

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Reponsibilities :
  • Execute embedded software development, debugging, validation, and maintenance activities in support of hydrogen fuel cell systems and associated electromechanical applications.
  • Provide hands‑on support to embedded controls, including build and flashing workflows, microcontroller toolchains, and software integration within engineering and production environments.
  • Support laboratory validation activities, engineering test benches, controller communication interfaces (including CAN-based systems), and industrial automation tools.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues, including root cause analysis, defect resolution, and support to production and field-related issues.
  • Contribute to the robustness and maintenance of engineering tools and workflows, ensuring continuity during tool transitions and alignment with approved standards.
  • Ensure proper documentation, traceability of requirements, code, test results, and defects, and maintain clear reporting of activities through monthly deliverables.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams (software, controls, electrical, validation, and manufacturing) to support development and knowledge transfer activities.
Skills :
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in embedded software or embedded controls engineering, in complex electromechanical systems.
  • Strong hands‑on experience in embedded software development using C/C++, including design, debugging, and maintenance of controller-based applications.
  • Proven experience with embedded development environments, including firmware build, flashing, bootloader workflows, and software release processes.
  • Solid experience with CAN-based communication and diagnostics, including troubleshooting using tools such as PCAN-View, PCAN Explorer, PEAK drivers, CANalyzer, or equivalent.
  • Experience in laboratory validation environments, including development and maintenance of test benches and automation workflows using tools such as LabVIEW, NI software, MATLAB, or equivalent.
  • Experience with industrial automation and PLC tools, including CODESYS, Siemens TIA Portal, WAGO tools, and associated industrial interfaces (I/O, OPC, field devices).
  • Experience with engineering scripting and automation tools, such as Python, MATLAB, Node.js, and configuration management tools such as Git.
  • Experience ensuring full traceability between requirements, implementation, validation evidence, and defects using ALM or lifecycle management tools (e.g., PTC Integrity, Windchill RV&S or equivalent).
  • Ability to work across multiple engineering domains (software, controls, electrical, validation) to troubleshoot issues at system level (controller, communication, sensors, actuators, test benches).
  • Experience in documenting, standardizing, and maintaining reproducible engineering environments (toolchains, configurations, lab setups) across teams and sites.
  • Experience supporting tool rationalization and standardization in multi-project environments, including managing legacy tools and justified technical exceptions.
  • Knowledge or experience in hydrogen fuel cell systems, powertrain, electrification, or similar industrial or rail applications is strongly preferred.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and supporting best practices in embedded debugging, validation, and configuration management is considered an asset.
