Job summary

Fidus Systems seeks an Senior Embedded Software Designer to lead complex embedded software efforts for clients. You’ll drive BSP‑level development across Linux, RTOS, and bare‑metal, implement drivers, and coordinate FPGA/SoC integration with hardware teams.

You’ll mentor multiple designers, set technical direction, and work closely with customers to meet demanding requirements while embracing new technologies and best practices for scalable, high‑quality code.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years’ BSP-level software development in embedded Linux, RTOS, or bare‑metal.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a technical lead with architecture responsibility.
• Expertise in embedded software for communications, networking, and video.
• Strong embedded Linux experience, Yocto or PetaLinux builds, kernels, drivers.
• Experience with FPGA SoCs, especially Xilinx or equivalent.
• Proficient in C, C++, and assembly; scripting with Python, Bash, TCL.
• Familiar with Linux/RTOS drivers and bootloaders like U-Boot.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to embedded software projects across comms, networking, and video.
• Develop and maintain BSP-level software for embedded Linux, RTOS, and bare‑metal.
• Implement device drivers and manage kernel configurations; use Yocto or PetaLinux.
• Design and debug software for FPGA SoCs; integrate with hardware components.
• Collaborate on HW/SW/FPGA integration; interpret schematics and datasheets.
• Utilize oscilloscopes and logic analyzers for debugging and optimization.
• Define architecture and set technical direction for projects.
• Lead project teams; mentor designers to deliver high‑quality outcomes.
• Work with customers to understand requirements and exceed expectations.
• Apply best design practices to maintainable, high‑quality code.
• Stay current with emerging tech and introduce innovative solutions.
