Job summary

The Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration in Nova Scotia is seeking an Inspector for Elevators, Lifts and Amusements. You will enforce safety acts, conduct inspections and investigations, and prepare reports for regulatory compliance across the province.

Applicants should have a high school diploma with related trade/technical training in elevating devices and at least 7 years of relevant experience. Equivalencies may be considered.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required; trade/technical training in design, construction, maintenance and inspection of elevating devices preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of CSA, ASME and ASTM Codes and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce Elevator and Lifts Act and Regulations and Amusement Devices Safety Act and Regulations across Nova Scotia.
  • Provide information, guidance and technical direction to stakeholders; perform inspections and investigations.
  • Prepare monthly activity and status reports and attend meetings.
