To be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following essential qualifications:

EDUCATION :

  • A secondary school diploma (High School) AND completion of an acceptable training program in electronics technology or an employer-approved alternative.
  • An acceptable training program is a minimum two-year course at a recognized post-secondary institution in electronics technology.
  • An employer-approved alternative includes completion of an electronics engineering technician program plus at least five years of on-the-job technical training and experience in informatics, repairs, and installation of modems, landlines, navigational, communication, radar, or sonar equipment, or having achieved the Canadian Forces developmental period (DP) 2 in communication, radar, sonar, or navigational systems.

EXPERIENCE :

EX1 : Maintenance and installation of navigational, sensors, or communication systems.

EX2 : Lifecycle management of marine or land electronic equipment used for navigation, communications, and informatics.

EX3 : Providing advice, guidance, or recommendations regarding marine or land electronic equipment and systems.

EX4 : Developing technical or logistic support solutions to correct system defects or deficiencies in maintenance and repair practices.

Additional experience qualifications include:

  • Successful completion of the Canadian Coast Guard Marine Electronic Technology Development Program.
  • Recent experience in supervising human resources, tasks, and providing oversight.
  • Recent experience in Quality Control and Quality Assurance of electronic equipment.
  • Recent experience in conducting ship radio inspections.
  • Recent experience supervising contractors' work and ensuring compliance with contract conditions.
