Stantec Ottawa is seeking a Senior Electrician or Technician or Technologist to join our multi-disciplinary team. You will lead data gathering of electrical parameters, participate in installation and commissioning of electrical systems, and collaborate with project managers, clients, contractors, and suppliers.

The role requires safety discipline, knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code and Ontario Building Code, and experience with meters and power systems up to 44kV.

Qualifications

• Understand safety standards for live work around energized power systems.
• Ability to write clear technical reports documenting site investigations, commissioning, maintenance.
• Familiar with operation, commissioning, and maintenance of power systems 120V–44kV.
• Experience interpreting the Canadian Electrical Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code, and Ontario Building Code.
• Team player with interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate people.
• Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills.
• Experience operating multi-meters, power quality meters, and other instrumentation.

Responsabilités

Your Opportunity

Our Ottawa office is looking for a Senior Electrician or Technician or Technologist to join our growing, multi-disciplinary team. Responsibilities include the review and inspection and data gathering of existing electrical systems, construction administration of ongoing electrical construction, assistance with the design of electrical systems, setup and installation of portable metering equipment, review and oversight of electrical maintenance projects, and review of commissioning of electrical installations. This will require you to work closely with team members, project managers, internal and external clients, contractors and suppliers. Your Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of internal qualified personnel or external sub-contractors to perform data gathering of electrical parameters of existing electrical distribution systems.

• Program, install, and download power quality metering equipment or use multi-meters to measure site electrical parameters.

• Manage storage, regular testing, and usage of Personal Protective Equipment related to live electrical work.

• Design, manage, and review electrical maintenance projects under the oversight of senior power systems engineers.

• Assist in design, review, and documentation of commissioning of electrical installations.

• Occasionally work outside of standard business hours to gather data or review maintenance projects.

• Local travel within the National Capital Region for site inspections and client meetings.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Thorough understanding of safety standards for performing live work around energized electrical power systems.

• The ability to write clear and concise technical reports documenting site investigations, commissioning, maintenance, and other types of projects.

• Familiar with operation, commissioning, and maintenance of power systems ranging from 120V to 44kV.

• Experienced in interpreting and applying the requirements within the Canadian Electrical Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code, and Ontario Building Code.

• Team player, collaborator with interpersonal skills with experience in managing and coordinating people.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills and aptitude for problem solving.

• Experience in operating multi-meters, power quality meters, and other electrical instrumentation.

• Proficiency in verbal and written communication in French is considered an asset.

Education and Experience

• Electricians license or Technicians or Technologist’s Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

• 15 years of practical experience in the electrical field associated with one or more of the responsibility fields noted above
