Job description

About H-55
As the technological spin-off of Solar Impulse, the first electric airplane to fly around the world, H55's mission is to make aviation clean, safe, and affordable.

The company's strengths lie in developing modular, lightweight, and certifiable propulsion and energy storage solutions.

Having flown 4 electric airplanes, the Swiss start-up was selected by Pratt & Whitney Canada to provide the battery pack for its regional hybrid-electric flight demonstrator, highlighting H55's position in the electric commuter market.

About the Role
Join H55 as an Electrical System Engineer and be part of a pioneering team transforming air transportation. You will develop and integrate innovative Electric Storage Systems (EPS) for next-generation aircraft, ensuring compliance with EASA, FAA, and CS-23 standards.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Define and update system architecture, requirements, and interfaces, considering certification and safety.
  • Provide analysis, test procedures, and compliance evidence for standards like DO-160, DO-254, ARP4754A.
  • Support aircraft/system integration, including creating and updating technical manuals.
  • Prepare reports, analyses, and test procedures to meet certification requirements under EASA Part 21 and FAA standards.
  • Analyze electrical networks of propulsion systems to optimize performance and reliability.
  • Conduct bench, ground, and flight tests to validate system performance and compliance.
  • Perform Electrical Load Analysis (ELA) to ensure system stability and certification adherence.

Preferred Profile and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or higher in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Power Electronics, or related fields.
  • 5+ years in system-level engineering, especially in Electrical Storage Systems (ESS) or Power Electronics for safety-critical industries.
  • Familiarity with aviation standards such as DO-160, DO-254, ARP4754A, ARP4761, DO-178C. Equivalent standards in automotive, medical, or rail industries are also considered.
  • Strong understanding of EASA Part 21, CS-23, and certification principles.
  • Experience with safety analyses like FMEA, SSA, and metrics such as MTBF/MTTR.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC compliance is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with system integration, V&V processes, including HIL, SIL, and flight tests.
  • Familiarity with electronic communication protocols, interface documentation (ICD), and electrical load analysis (ELA).
  • Strong technical writing skills, including test plans and certification artifacts.
  • Proactive, innovative, well-organized, with excellent time management and multitasking skills.
  • Passion for continuous learning and knowledge sharing within a collaborative team.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in French is a plus.
  • This role may require occasional trips to Switzerland.
