About you and this role

Dow is seeking a Senior Electrical Manufacturing Manager (Owners Representative) who will provide direct support to the UPI electrical scope for the Alberta Path to Zero project. This role aligns to the Energy Technology Center and is located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada.

This role will support efforts for the Path2Zero program, which will create the first net‑zero emissions site of its kind in the world. The FS P2Z program is a key enabler to Dow’s Decarbonization strategy. Learn More: Fort Saskatchewan Path2Zero (dow.com)opens in a new tab.

You will be responsible for providing a detailed knowledge of the electrical technology and responsible to the Energy Technology Center for technology implemented. You will ensure implementation of the best technology in the project by integrating operability input from Plant Operations, MET from the Technology Center and Maintenance and Reliability, into definition and design. Frequent travel may be required to support project development and engineering, and to equipment supplier facilities. This role will provide detailed knowledge of electrical technology to the project design, construction, and startup phases.

Responsibilities
  • Utilities Power and Infrastructure (UPI) electrical design –This role will analyze options to select the best interconnect method, and then support development of scope and design of that interconnection.
  • Ensure implementation integrates input from plant operations, maintenance, and reliability into definition and design.
  • Carries the majority of project accountability for the technical integrity and operability of the electrical aspects of the completed OSBL facility.
  • Ensure implementation of Most Effective Technology (MET), Loss Prevention Principles (LPP) and the Energy Technology Center requirements.
  • Provides effective communication and coordination between project team and Operations.
  • Schedule and manage required reviews between project team, Operations, and the Energy Technology Center SME’s.
  • Manages interface between ISBL and UPI (Relay requirements, coordination reviews, transfer trips etc.) to ensure the downstream plants can receive power per project schedule.
  • Ensures safe and effective Commissioning, Start Up, and transfer to Operations process. Delivers trained organization.
  • Delivers new and/or updated Operating Discipline.
Your Skills
  • Electrical Engineering Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of electrical systems, interconnect methods, and power infrastructure design. Essential for overseeing UPI electrical scope and ensuring technical integrity.
  • Power Transmission and Distribution: Demonstrated ability to evaluate, design, and oversee high-voltage electrical systems and grid interconnections to ensure reliable and compliant delivery of power across industrial infrastructure.
  • Industrial Electrical Distribution: Skilled in configuring and maintaining electrical distribution networks within complex manufacturing environments, including switchgear, transformers, and motor control centers, to support safe and efficient plant operations.
  • Project Management & Coordination: Ability to manage complex engineering projects, coordinate across teams (Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Technology Center), and ensure alignment with schedules and deliverables.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Strong communication skills to facilitate reviews, manage interfaces (e.g., ISBL/UPI), and ensure effective collaboration between project teams and operations.
  • Technology Integration & Evaluation: Skill in selecting and implementing Most Effective Technology (MET), integrating Loss Prevention Principles (LPP), and evaluating options for optimal design and operability.
  • Commissioning & Start-Up Leadership: Experience in leading safe and effective commissioning, start-up, and transition to operations, including training and delivering updated operating disciplines.
Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Registration or the ability to be registered with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng).
  • Must be willing and able to meet all applicable requirements related to business travel (e.g., as to immigration and visa rules, public‑health mandates, airline rules, etc.) into and out of (and physical presence in) various countries worldwide.
  • A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including any type of permanent residency support.
