What You'll Do:
- Lead and oversee electrical design work for building renewal and renovation projects, including tenant improvements and system upgrades
- Evaluate and document existing electrical infrastructure through site reviews and condition assessments
- Develop practical, code-compliant solutions for integrating new systems within existing buildings
- Prepare and coordinate design drawings, specifications, and reports across all project stages
- Collaborate closely with in-house architects, engineers, and construction professionals
- Support the Renewals team with contract administration, site instructions, and construction-phase coordination
- Participate in feasibility studies, load calculations, and life safety system upgrades
- Contribute technical expertise to support the new buildings Electrical team on select projects
- Mentor junior staff and participate in internal QA/QC and technical reviews, markups etc.
- Engage with clients and project stakeholders, providing clear communication and responsive service
- Work directly with the VP of Renewals on Business Development pursuits, to grow the department

- You enjoy reverse-engineering legacy systems and developing efficient, reliable upgrades
- You’re comfortable working on fast-paced tenant improvements as well as more involved renewal projects
- You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- You’re a natural problem solver, and enjoy figuring out how to make things work in real-world conditions
- You take ownership of your work and bring a strong sense of accountability and pride to each project
- You’re a team player who enjoys collaborating across disciplines and supporting team development
- You want to grow as an engineer and learn how to bring in new business and grow a department, with support from the VP
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional experience in building electrical systems
- Registered as an EIT or P.Eng. in British Columbia
- Experience with the assessment, design, and upgrade of electrical systems in existing buildings
- Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, BC Building Code, and renovation-related design constraints
- Familiarity with lighting, power distribution, life safety systems, and communications
- Skilled in Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical design software
- Strong communication, coordination, and client engagement skills
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and manage deadlines in a fast-moving environment
