Job description

DEKA Research & Development, located in Manchester, NH, has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer to work in an up-tempo R&D environment. Playing a key role on our project teams, you will work alongside a group of passionate engineers to imagine and create innovative solutions that improve lives around the world. Many products that DEKA develops are medical devices regulated by the FDA.

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for a state-of-the-art medical device product development program. This person will be responsible for the concept, development, and production-related activities of embedded electrical circuit designs within a multi-disciplinary project team. The candidate should be familiar with a broad range of electrical engineering design concepts from low-level analog to high-speed digital circuitry. This position requires a fair amount of autonomy and clever thinking as our projects involve inventing new and better ways of solving engineering challenges.

How you will make an impact as a Senior Electrical Engineer:

1. Design and develop circuit boards containing a mix of analog and digital circuitry through schematic creation, PCB layout management, and DFx activities.
2. Perform testing, debugging, and failure analysis of circuitry, and create test fixtures to aid in development and production.
3. Create clear documentation including block diagrams, electrical requirements, design descriptions, test procedures, and failure analysis procedures.
4. Develop and design new prototype devices using originality and ingenuity.
5. Decompose system requirements to derive electrical specifications and architectures.
6. Apply experience with electronic design techniques and integration to solve complex problems.
7. Collaborate with mechanical, controls, systems, software, and test engineers to facilitate rapid development cycles.
8. Understand and follow DEKA processes, design control practices, and documentation requirements.
9. Manage external design partners and suppliers.
10. Manage your time effectively across multiple assignments of varying scope and complexity.
11. Provide subject matter expertise and cross-functional contribution across the company.

Required skills and experience:

1. BSc in Electrical Engineering.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in developing complex electro-mechanical devices.
3. Experience in electrical circuit board schematics and PCB layouts (Altium preferred).
4. Experience from concept through production in electrical design.
5. Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams to solve complex problems through iterative design, integration, and testing.
6. Proficiency in writing and working with detailed specifications and design documents.
7. Hands-on testing, analysis, and simulation skills using electrical test equipment.
8. Experience in sensor design, characterization, and analysis.
9. Understanding of signal integrity, timing, power consumption, and design for ESD and EMC compliance.
10. RF design and testing experience is a plus.
11. Ability to prioritize and work independently under tight schedules.
12. Knowledge of measurement automation and data analysis software (MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW, etc.).
13. Experience with embedded software development in C/C++ for microcontrollers (ARM, PIC, AVR) is a plus.
14. Familiarity with electrical safety and medical device standards (IEC 60601-1, ISO 13485) is a plus.
15. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
