Role Description The Senior Electrical Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. This position is responsible for leading electrical design activities for power systems and distribution projects, including preparing drawings, specifications, and technical reports. Day-to-day tasks include performing detailed engineering calculations, conducting power system studies, reviewing designs for safety and compliance, and supporting project planning and cost estimation. The Senior Electrical Engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technologists, and interface with clients to understand requirements and present engineering solutions. The role also involves supporting field activities, reviewing vendor documentation, ensuring adherence to codes and standards, and contributing to continuous improvement of engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering and electricity concepts, with the ability to apply theory to practical power and energy projects.
• Proficiency in Electrical Design for industrial and utility applications, including preparation of single-line diagrams, layouts, and technical specifications.
• Hands-on experience with Power Systems, including analysis, protection coordination, and system reliability assessments.
• Knowledge of Power Distribution systems, including medium and low voltage equipment, switching, and distribution network design.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent); eligibility for P.Eng. licensure in Ontario or other Canadian provinces is an asset.
• Experience in the energy or utility sector, with familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to lead projects, mentor team members, manage priorities, and communicate technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills; proficiency with industry-standard design and analysis software is beneficial.
