Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, the Electrical Engineer will work closely with Production teams and be responsible for supporting the design, development, and integration of high-voltage electrical systems across various engineering projects in Canada and the United States. The incumbent will also provide ongoing technical support to departments involved in project execution and commissioning.

Your Role & Responsibilities

Design and Development

  • Participate in the design of electrical systems;
  • Contribute to control logic development;
  • Prepare electrical schematics, diagrams, and layout plans;
  • Produce wiring lists consistent with physical equipment layout.

Testing and Validation

  • Plan electrical testing on locomotives or subsystems at supplier sites;
  • Manage documentation, instrumentation, and test coordination;
  • Define test specifications and technical requirements;
  • Integrate applicable standards into both design and testing processes;
  • Design and build custom test setups;
  • Provide technical expertise and analyze test results;
  • Write detailed test reports and provide actionable recommendations;
  • Ensure measurement quality and testing accuracy.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Attend meetings with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments and offer technical support;
  • Provide mentorship within the electrical engineering team;
  • Support technicians in identifying and resolving technical issues.

Profile Requirements

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or recognized equivalency by the Quebec Ministry of Education, if applicable);
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment involving complex engineering design challenges;
  • Familiarity with project-based organizational structures;
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English (written and spoken) due to procedures, terminology, and clients in the railway sector.

Also Required

  • Strong analytical skills in solving technical problems;
  • Excellent communication and professional ethics;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel skills.

Considered Assets

  • Relevant experience in the railway industry (AAR, APTA, FRA...);
  • Familiarity with engineering software such as SolidWorks and/or Inventor.
