Spark Power Senior Electrical Engineer in Hamilton , Ontario

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with expertise in power systems to join our dynamic team at Spark Power. In this role, you will report to the Engineering Manager and be instrumental in delivering engineering solutions for construction projects across the industrial, commercial, renewable, and utility sectors. You will also play a critical role in mentoring and developing junior engineering staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning within the team.

What you'll be doing as a Electrical Engineer?

1. Serve as the primary point of contact for customer support, facilitating communication and project planning.
2. Provide direct customer support with proactive communication, organizing kickoff meetings, and handling RFPs/RFIs.
3. Collaborate as a project lead or integral team member on industrial, data center, commercial, battery energy storage system, and renewable energy projects.
4. Review, seal, and approve engineering drawings and studies, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
5. Prepare cost estimates, conduct site visits, and perform detailed engineering reviews and calculations, including cable/equipment sizing, transformers, switchgear, grounding transformers, ground grid design, and cable ampacity reports.
6. Develop and oversee comprehensive design drawings/packages, including single line diagrams (SLDs), site layouts, LV/HV details, protection & control, metering, and communication systems.
7. Support procurement, construction, and commissioning efforts, ensuring that project timelines and quality standards are met.
8. Identify technical challenges, propose effective solutions, and engage with team members for complex issues.
9. Mentor and assist junior personnel within the Engineering team, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment that enhances their professional development.
10. Lead specific project scopes or manage entire projects, ensuring successful execution from start to finish.

Do you have the Spark? Here's what we're looking for:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
2. P.Eng. designation is a must.
3. At least 10 years of power distribution design experience.
4. Proven track record in Renewable, Industrial, and Commercial projects.
5. Expertise in power distribution design, substation design, and project management.
6. Comprehensive knowledge of industry codes and standards.
7. Proficiency in electrical software (e.g., CYMCAP, CYMGrd, SKM, ETAP) and CAD software (AutoCAD).
8. Experience in heavy industrial or Battery Energy Storage facilities is an asset.
