Your Role:
- Design electrical systems for power distribution, control, communication, lighting, and sectors including commercial, institutional, and municipal.
- Perform technical calculations and utilize software for load calculations, arc flash, fault & coordination studies, and power system design.
- Conduct on-site electrical research, construction audits, and field reviews.
- Write detailed technical reports, feasibility studies, proposals, and provide written responses and instructions as needed.
- Plan schedules and tasks, implement electrical system studies, prepare material specifications, and develop capital/engineering cost estimates; review design and technical solutions, and prepare reports.
- Coordinate with clients to develop engineering projects.
- Prepare proposals, engineering estimates, equipment and design specifications, and reports.
- Manage project schedules, design tasks, and execution.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers.
- Monitor design budgets and work with Project Controls for cost management.
- Coordinate electrical work with Project Managers/Engineers to ensure inter-discipline quality.
- Manage and develop client relationships.
- Adhere to health and safety policies and guidelines, and conduct activities in line with procedures, legislation, and standards.
- Pursue ongoing professional development and maintain high discipline knowledge.
- Work safely and report health and safety incidents.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technologist Program.
- Professional Engineer designation or eligibility to register with the Provincial Engineering Association.
- 8 to 15 years of relevant electrical engineering experience preferred.
- Experience in low and medium voltage electrical design.
- Knowledge of protection relaying and power system studies.
- Experience with power utilities, including substation design, grounding, and HV overhead lines.
- Experience in sectors such as Pulp & Paper, Oil Refining, Oil Sands, Gas Processing, Pipeline Stations, Power Generation, and Mining is an asset.
- Knowledge of systems 69 kV and above is an asset.
- Familiarity with Canadian electrical standards and codes.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
