Job summary

Tetranex Solutions in Calgary, Alberta is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer - Heat Trace to lead design efforts on energy sector projects. You will supervise drafting, perform heat trace calculations, and develop electrical drawings for single line diagrams, power schematics, layouts and cable schedules.

The role requires degree/diploma in Electrical Design, extensive heat trace experience, AutoCAD proficiency, 3D CAD/NavisWorks, and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical Design from a recognized technical institute or comparable industry experience.
• Extensive experience in electrical heat trace design and use of industry standard software.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D CAD tools (NavisWorks/SmartPlant).

Position Description

Currently, Tetranex is seeking a full-time Senior Electrical Designer - Heat Trace.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and assist in the development of project design, drafting deliverables and project work packages.
• Electrical heat trace calculations and design, as well as development of associated electrical drawings.
• Design and drafting of electrical drawings including, but not limited to: single line diagrams, low/medium voltage power schematics, electrical layouts, cable schedules, panel layouts, I/O schematics, wiring diagrams, etc.
• Support of senior team resources in the development of design calculations and studies including, but not limited to: equipment & cable sizing and selection, lighting, voltage drop, cable tray fill, etc.
• Quality assurance and support of project schedule input and progress tracking.
• Communication and coordination with department and project team members as required.
• Manage co-ordination with vendors and vendor documentation to a level required for project execution.
• Mentor junior design resources to ensure that they are properly instructed in the performance of their assigned tasks.
• Mentor junior resources to provide growth in understanding of key industry concepts relating to the Electrical discipline including constructability, schedule considerations, cost impact, change management and environmental considerations and impacts.

Requirements:

• Extensive experience in design applications in support of energy sector projects.
• Degree or Diploma in Electrical Design from a recognized technical institute or comparable industry experience.
• Extensive experience in electrical heat trace design and use of industry standard software.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• 3D CAD and NavisWorks experience required.
• Strong understanding of industrial electrical design calculations, including: EHT, lighting, tray fill, cable & protection sizing.
• Solid working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code.
• Bluebeam Revu experience required.
• SmartPlant experience an asset.
• Ability to work independently and in team environments.
• Strong work ethic as well as analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with others.
