Job summary

PBX Engineering Ltd. is seeking a qualified Senior Design Engineer to join the Municipal Utilities team and help deliver projects across BC and Alberta.

The role involves leading design tasks from concept through construction, ensuring code compliance and high-quality deliverables. The position emphasizes client liaison, project management, site assessments, documentation, system commissioning, and mentorship of junior staff.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university, or diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology program or equivalent
• Eligible for registration with EGBC as an EIT/P.Eng.
• 8–12 years experience in an engineering consulting environment
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Responsibilities

• Perform client liaison and project management to support efficient and effective project delivery
• Prepare construction-related contract documentation
• Provide constructability reviews
• Conduct site assessments and equipment condition assessments
• Conduct site inspections, construction progress reviews, and field reviews
• Prepare, track, review, and manage construction documentation (change orders, site instructions, shop drawings, quality management forms, test plans, requests for information, as-built drawings, etc.)
• Oversee contractor quality control and testing activities
• Prepare calculations and simulations; Prepare cost estimates
• Produce drawings
• Prepare specifications, reports, technical memos, and other project documentation and deliverables

About the Role

Working closely with other engineers, the Senior Design Engineer will be a key member of the Municipal Utilities team, with responsibility for project tasks in the following areas:

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university, or diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology program or equivalent from a recognized technical institute.
• Eligible for registration with EGBC as an EIT/P.Eng.
• At least 8 - 12 years experience in an engineering consulting environment

Compensation

The range of compensation for this position is $124,800 to $166,400 base salary per annum.This salary range is provided specifically for compliance to provincial legislation.The actual salary will depend on the skills, experience, and capabilities of the successful candidate relative to the role and may or may not land within the range specified above
