We're scaling our engineering team to meet demand for existing and new products and are currently looking for a driven, experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Montreal team in a full-time, permanent position.

Day to day, the Senior Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the product's electrical design, from concept through to production and field support. Expect a fast-paced work environment, with a broad range of challenges and responsibilities!

AON3D makes affordable industrial 3D printers designed for printing high performance thermoplastics, including PEEK, PEKK, ULTEM 9085, polycarbonate, and more. HYLO, its flagship 3D printer, is a direct response to demands for hotter print conditions and the careful thermal control needed for producing strong and dimensionally stable parts from advanced materials. Most importantly, it offers an open filament platform that empowers users to choose the right materials for their project and slash costs by avoiding expensive proprietary materials and license fees.

Role and Responsibilities:

1. Define and develop electrical and electronic design and architecture.
2. Lead and coordinate electronics design activities and support technical reviews.
3. Perform engineering planning and tracking.
4. Perform requirements analysis.
5. Perform modelling, design, testing, and support of microprocessor-based electro-mechanical systems.
6. Perform modelling, design, testing, and support of heating systems.
7. Define and track technical performance metrics.
8. Document electrical and electronic architecture and design.
9. Document system integration planning.
10. Drive process excellence: leverage proven processes, share lessons learned, and adopt best practices from other parts of the business or industry.
11. Ensure customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

• Engineering bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum 7+ years experience in the design, test, and support of microprocessor-based electro-mechanical systems.
• Experience managing electrical and safety certification processes (CE, UL, CSA).
• Advanced knowledge and experience integrating sensors, actuators, and motors into complex systems.
• Experience in real-time control systems design, modelling, and simulation.
• Experience in prototype design and testing.
• Excellent troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Expertise in measurement tools (oscilloscope, multimeter, logic analyzer).
• Basic soldering skills including surface-mount components.
• Knowledge of electronic bus architecture and/or interfaces and/or data transfer and communication protocols.
• Experience with C and at least one other software language.
• Experience in circuit and control systems simulation.
• Experience with PC-based Data Acquisition and Control.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet release deadlines.
• Effective communication skills (in writing and verbally) with technical and non-technical team members.
• Problem-solving aptitude in an integrated engineering team environment.
• High degree of initiative, adaptability, and autonomy.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).

Bonus/Nice-to-have:

• Engineering graduate degree.
• 10+ years’ experience in the design, test, and support of microprocessor-based electro-mechanical systems.
• Experience leading electrical and safety certification processes.
• Experience in 3D printing or similar industry.
• Embedded Systems Software, Firmware programming experience.
• Fluent in French (spoken and written).
• Experience with Odoo ERP & Kicad design software.
