Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Job Description

FINTEC recruit is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for an international engineering business based in Renfrewshire. This is a permanent position, with a salary up to £65,000 plus benefits such as private medical care and a contributory pension. The role involves working 37.5 hours per week with an early finish on Fridays.

The ideal candidate will have experience in design for PLC systems and full lifecycle engineering for projects. Responsibilities include:

1. Providing engineering design solutions and full lifecycle support.
2. Working on new product designs, meeting client specifications, and upgrading existing equipment.
3. Creating bills of materials and sourcing suitable components and materials.
4. Preparing engineering documentation such as specifications, proposals, and reports.
5. Checking detailed manufacturing drawings and documentation.
6. Supervisory or management experience in coaching or mentoring a small team.
7. Designing and commissioning HV and LV electrical systems, including calculations.

Skills and experience required:

• Proven electrical and electronics design skills.
• Experience in design calculations and proficiency with software tools such as CAD packages.
• Knowledge of design standards.
• Experience in control systems design using PLCs.
• Knowledge of PLC industrial automation network interfaces such as Profibus, CANbus, Ethernet, etc.
• Knowledge of DC systems is advantageous.
• Previous experience in power distribution systems design.
• Experience with HV and LV electrical systems.
• Experience working within marine or defence sectors, adhering to standards and classification society regulations (LR, DNV, EFSTAN, etc.) is a plus.
