Huawei Technologies Canada Co., Ltd. invites applications for a permanent Researcher position in our Software-Hardware System Optimization Lab.

You will conduct hardware-aware neural network optimization for edge AI, exploring quantization, pruning, mixed precision, and NAS to improve latency and energy efficiency on device constraints. You will publish findings, collaborate with product and hardware teams to transition research into production, and mentor junior researchers while building

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent research experience.
• Strong programming in Python and C/C++.
• Hands-on with DL frameworks and deployment toolchains.
• Proven publication record at top venues.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research in hardware-aware neural network optimization, including quantization-aware training, pruning, distillation and NAS.
• Prototype and evaluate latency/energy-aware training objectives and Pareto optimization.
• Collaborate on or contribute to compilers/runtimes to improve coverage and performance.
• Publish and present findings internally and externally; build benchmarking suites for edge targets.
• Mentor junior researchers/engineers and help transition prototypes into production.
