Job summary

Canadian Solar Inc. in Kitchener, Ontario, is seeking a Senior DSP Firmware Engineer to own the design, development, and lifecycle support of real-time embedded firmware for inverters used in utility-energy storage systems.

You will apply deep TI DSP expertise (C2000), implement fast control loops in embedded C, ensure grid-code compliance, and collaborate with hardware and validation teams to deliver reliable firmware and certification-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
• Minimum 5 years firmware development in embedded or real-time control systems.
• Expert with TI DSP platforms (C2000) and DSP peripherals.
• Strong C programming for real-time, safety-critical power electronics.
• Experience with CCS, debuggers, profiling, and emulation.
• Experience with verification strategies and integration testing.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable DSP firmware architectures for inverters using TI DSP platforms.
• Develop deterministic real-time control firmware in embedded C, including fast control loops and interrupt handling.
• Translate system, control, and grid-code requirements into traceable firmware requirements.
• Implement inverter features such as grid synchronization, protections, fault handling, diagnostics.
• Support compliance with grid and firmware standards (UL 1741 SB, IEEE 1547, UL 1998) and certification testing.
• Collaborate with hardware, controls, systems, and validation teams to ensure system-level performance.
