Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in LTD case management, disability claims, or vocational rehabilitation.
  • Experience leading and mentoring a small team.
  • Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP), Return to Work Disability Manager (RTWDM), or Group Benefit Associate (GBA) designation would be an asset.

What is the role?

The Senior Disability Case Manager is responsible for managing complex long-term disability (LTD) claims by providing expert assessment and coordination of care to support members through recovery, rehabilitation, and return-to-work processes. This role involves overseeing a specialized caseload, ensuring cost-effective, quality outcomes through strategic planning and resource coordination, mentoring and supervising case managers, and serving as a subject matter expert on LTD plan text, legislation, and best practices. The role is crucial in enhancing member outcomes and ensuring efficient, fair, and compassionate claim resolution. The Senior Disability Case Manager also resolves case escalations and leads a team of disability case managers.

Requirements

What you’ll bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in Disability Management, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Kinesiology, Nursing (RN), Rehabilitation Counseling or related field plus 5+ years of experience in LTD case management, disability claims, or vocational rehabilitation, along with experience leading and mentoring a small team.
  • Certified Disability Management Profession (CDMP), Return to Work Disability Manager (RTWDM), or Group Benefit Associate (GBA) designation would be an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for dealing with members, employees at all organizational levels, and officials of other organizations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in medical terminology and medical report review and interpretation.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in case management systems.
