Role Description

As the Senior Director of Engineering for the Core Business at Dropbox, you will be a key leader responsible for the overall success of engineering initiatives for our core products. You will report directly to the VP of Engineering for Core and play a pivotal role in shaping the engineering direction of Dropbox Core. In this role, you will have end-to-end ownership of engineering for many Core services and components and will partner closely with product, growth, and design teams. You will lead the engineering teams responsible for the development and innovation of core products such as File Sync and Share (FSS), and integrations with Dropbox Dash. You will be leading a top-tier product engineering team.

Responsibilities
  • You will lead and inspire a world-class engineering organization, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • You will lead the team in balancing urgency vs. the incredibly high quality bar expected by both our customers and the broader Dropbox organization, through clear and repeatable engineering processes
  • You will partner closely with Dropbox leadership across all functions, including Product, Growth, Design, Platform, ITS, GTM and Support to manage success of cross-functional relationships and initiatives
  • You will create a culture of strong technical ownership, resulting in highly reliable products and services at scale
  • You will set technical direction, make critical architectural decisions, and ensure the successful delivery of scalable, reliable, and high-performance software solutions
  • You'll foster a healthy and collaborative culture that embodies Dropbox's values and continue to develop Dropbox as one of the best places to work.
Requirements
  • 15+ years of engineering experience in a medium or large software company including 6+ years managing high performance teams
  • Ability to balance business delivery with engineering quality, strong business acumen, and a keen eye for data-driven decision making, and a knack for managing both immediate needs and long-term investments
  • Bias to action and high quality execution
  • Strong technical craft mastery and engineering discipline
  • Deep organization capabilities, especially in regards to influence, collaboration and communication
  • Experience building out and empowering a high performing culture that embodies agency, a growth mindset and extreme ownership
  • Deep interest in recent AI developments and implications in the search and ranking domains
  • Demonstrated ability to hire and grow senior leaders and managers
Preferred Qualifications
  • B2C experience at a product led growth company
  • Start up and growth experience leading fast growing engineering teams with a set of sub teams and managers
  • Experience managing full-stack (mobile, platform & product) engineering organizations at SaaS companies
  • Experience leading an engineering department througha transformation phase
  • Experience managing remote / virtual-first teams
Compensation

$306,000—$414,000 CAD

The range listed above is the expected annual salary/OTE for this role, subject to change.

Salary/OTE is just one component of Dropbox’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for the corporate bonus program or a sales incentive (target included in OTE) as well as stock in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
