Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a visionary Senior Director of Procurement to lead our global procurement team through the development and implementation of a cloud-based procurement system. This role involves executing strategic initiatives to enhance sourcing and procurement practices aligned with Stantec’s vision. Based in North America and reporting to the VP – Procurement & Real Estate, the Senior Director will oversee the development, deployment, and management of a new Oracle cloud-based procurement, vendor management, and expense system. Leading a global team, this role will drive project deliverables, technical support, process transformation, stakeholder engagement, and the development of procurement practices across the organization. A key focus will be on streamlining operations, driving change management, and fostering collaboration to improve financial and operational performance. We seek a bold leader willing to challenge assumptions, develop innovative solutions, influence outcomes, and build consensus.

Your Key Responsibilities
  1. Define system requirements and functionalities in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  2. Lead the full project cycle of Oracle cloud procurement implementation, including planning, deployment, and post-implementation support.
  3. Ensure seamless integration of the new system with existing processes and systems.
  4. Analyze data integrity during testing and migration phases.
  5. Coordinate with global teams to resolve issues, support enhancements, and develop training materials.
  6. Manage, mentor, and develop the procurement team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  7. Develop strategic plans and KPIs to ensure high performance and alignment with business goals.
  8. Generate reports and insights to inform procurement strategies and support decision-making.
  9. Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements.
  10. Ensure compliance with sustainability commitments and global regulations, including ESG disclosure requirements.
  11. Oversee due diligence activities related to supply chain ESG compliance and facilitate corrective actions.
  12. Manage internal controls, approvals, and documentation for procurement activities.
  13. Act as a liaison between finance, IT, procurement, and business units to align technology with business needs.
  14. Develop strong internal relationships with stakeholders and partners to ensure a collaborative procurement approach.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Extensive knowledge of procurement and cloud-based procurement systems, preferably within a professional services or engineering consulting firm.
  • Experience executing large-scale procurement system implementations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant business systems.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop long-term procurement strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Commitment to customer service and relationship management.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed (up to 15-20%).
Education and Experience
  • Degree or certification in supply chain management, procurement, or related fields (e.g., CSCP, CPSM).
  • Minimum 15 years of procurement experience, including 3 years leading systems implementation, preferably with Oracle Procurement Cloud.
  • Experience with full-cycle cloud-based P2P projects.
  • Proven ability to lead procurement initiatives and collaborate with finance and IT teams.
  • Deep understanding of procurement processes and best practices in a professional services context.
  • Excellent project management skills for delivering complex cloud projects.
