Job description

Location: Quebec City (strongly preferred), hybrid possible within Quebec

Type: Full-time senior leadership role

Start date: As soon as possible

Compensation: $110,000–$120,000 base + performance-based bonus

Who We Are:

At Teangle, matcha is more than a drink — it is a daily ritual and a way to create positive energy.

Born in Quebec, we are on a mission to make matcha fun, flavourful, and accessible, without compromising on quality. Since 2017, we have served over 150,000 customers through our online store and built a loyal community we call the TeangleFam — people who care about well-being, energy, and taking action toward their goals.

After building strong momentum online, we are now expanding aggressively across channels: D2C, Amazon, and retail. The opportunity in front of us is big, and we are building the core team that will help Teangle become the most-loved matcha brand in Canada.

The Role

Help build the internal engine that allows Teangle to scale with confidence.

We are looking for a Senior Director of Finance & Operations based in Quebec who is deeply structured, financially sharp, and strong in execution. You will be the backbone of Teangle’s operations, owning cash flow visibility, forecasting, inventory planning, supply chain, systems, and day-to-day operational discipline.

You will work directly with the Founder & CEO and collaborate closely with our Head of Sales (Retail), customer service, and external partners (accounting firm, co-manufacturers, 3PL). Your mission is simple to describe and hard to execute: build the financial and operational foundation that takes Teangle from a founder-driven operation to a process-driven, scalable business.

This is a demanding, hands‑on leadership role. If you are looking for a highly comfortable, slow‑paced environment, this will not be a fit.

What You Will Do
Financial Leadership and Cash Flow
  • Own Teangle’s financial model, including cash flow forecasting over weekly, monthly, quarterly, and 12–18 month horizons.
  • Build and maintain clear financial dashboards used for decision‑making by the CEO and leadership.
  • Manage budgets across marketing, operations, and overhead, and track actuals versus plan.
  • Work with our external accounting firm for accurate month‑end reporting, while taking full responsibility for internal visibility and planning.
  • Improve COGS visibility and drive gross margin and contribution margin improvements by SKU and by channel.
  • Negotiate and optimize payment terms, supplier relationships, and line‑of‑credit usage to protect cash health.
  • Lead scenario planning for promotions, new product launches, pricing decisions, and retail expansion.
Operations, Supply Chain, and Inventory
  • Lead demand planning and purchasing cycles for all SKUs across D2C, Amazon, and retail channels.
  • Plan and coordinate production with co‑manufacturers to avoid stockouts and expensive last‑minute fixes (such as rush production or air freight).
  • Own inventory strategy, including safety stock levels, reorder points, and channel allocation.
  • Work closely with our 3PL and logistics partners to improve service levels, accuracy, and cost per order.
  • Monitor and improve operational KPIs such as out‑of‑stock rates, order lead times, fulfillment quality, and logistics costs.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce operational costs without compromising customer experience or quality.
Systems, Tools, and Processes
  • Take full ownership of MRPeasy or lead a structured migration to a better‑suited system if needed.
  • Design and document SOPs for key operational and finance processes (purchasing, planning, inventory, order flow, month‑end preparation, etc.).
  • Implement workflows that reduce manual work, duplication, and errors across tools (Shopify, sheets, MRP/ERP, Amazon, accounting).
  • Ensure that operational and financial data is clean, centralized, and reliable so the business can scale on solid information.
Administration and Cross‑Functional Support
  • Oversee the flow of invoices, supplier follow‑ups, and payment scheduling so this no longer depends on the Founder.
  • Support B2B order processing and ensure retail logistics requirements and documentation are handled correctly and on time.
  • Give the Head of Sales (Retail) and customer service clear visibility into stock, constraints, and operational changes.
  • Establish simple internal reporting rhythms (weekly, monthly) so priorities and numbers are understood by the relevant people.
Projects and Strategic Execution
  • Lead operational readiness for key periods such as peak seasons, Black Friday/Cyber Monday, holidays, and major launches.
  • Coordinate timelines between marketing, sales, operations, and partners to minimize last‑minute firefighting.
  • Identify operational risks early and bring structured options and recommendations to the CEO.
What You Bring
Experience
  • 7 to 12+ years of experience in finance, operations, supply chain, or a blended role where you owned both financial visibility and operational execution.
  • Experience in CPG is strongly preferred (beverages, food, supplements, wellness, or similar). If not CPG, then a strong background with physical product, inventory, and logistics is required.
  • Proven track record of building or significantly improving systems and processes in a growing business, not just maintaining what was already in place.
  • Hands‑on experience with ERP/MRP systems (MRPeasy or similar).
  • Bilingual in French and English (written and spoken).
Skills
  • Strong financial acumen: comfortable building and adapting cash flow models, forecasts, and budgets.
  • High analytical ability: you can break down complex problems, quantify impact, and prioritize.
  • Strong operational thinking: you understand how inventory, production, logistics, and finance connect.
  • Excellent communication: able to explain constraints and tradeoffs clearly to both technical and non‑technical teammates.
  • Comfortable setting, tracking, and being accountable to KPIs.
Mindset and Personality
  • You are ambitious and want your work to directly contribute to building something meaningful.
  • You have high standards and dislike sloppy work. Details matter to you.
  • You stay calm under pressure and become more structured when things get busy, not less.
  • You are comfortable working with a Founder who moves quickly and has strong opinions; you bring structure and clarity without being fragile.
  • You take ownership. You do not wait for instructions to fix obvious problems.
  • You like creating clarity and order out of chaos and are patient enough to see systems through from design to adoption.
  • You see this role as a chance to grow into a long‑term leadership position as the company scales, potentially building a small team under you over time.
Why You Will Love It Here
  • Competitive salary in the range of $110,000 to $120,000, with a performance‑based bonus tied to clear operational and financial goals.
  • A senior role with real responsibility: your work will directly affect Teangle’s ability to scale and execute.
  • The chance to build the finance and operations foundation of a brand with strong momentum and a clear growth path.
  • Direct collaboration with the Founder & CEO and core leadership, with fast feedback loops and visible impact.
  • A mission‑driven environment focused on energy, well‑being, and helping people feel their best.
  • The opportunity to be part of a company that is still small enough for you to shape, yet ambitious enough to be exciting.
