Summary:

The Senior Director of Innovation reports directly to the Chief Information and Digital Officer (CIDO) and plays a key leadership role within MaineHealth. This individual will collaborate and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including IT leadership (Vice Presidents, Directors, Architects, Managers, and staff) as well as administrative and clinical leaders across the MaineHealth system.

The Senior Director is responsible for leading a high-performing, multidisciplinary team of IT professionals in executing strategic, enterprise-level initiatives. These initiatives span multiple operational domains—including patient care, finance, research, and administration—and often involve implementing new software platforms, hardware solutions, and physical infrastructure, such as new clinical or practice sites.

The successful candidate will ensure the execution of high-impact, high-visibility projects that are often complex and time-sensitive, maintaining accountability for scope, timelines, budgets, and quality outcomes, while collaborating closely with stakeholders at all levels.

The team reporting to this role will include experts across IT domains such as infrastructure (cloud, networks, telecom, servers, storage, mobile devices, virtualized applications), core software platforms (e.g., Epic, Infor), data integration (e.g., Cloverleaf), data engineering, analytics, project management, and cybersecurity. Each team member will maintain a dotted-line reporting relationship to their functional areas within the broader IT organization.

When project requirements exceed internal capabilities, the Senior Director will utilize designated funds to engage third-party resources, sourcing, onboarding, and managing external partners to ensure alignment with project goals and standards.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
  1. Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required.
  2. Licenses/Certifications: N/A.
  3. Experience: 10+ years of proven leadership, including managing staff, managers, and directors, with strong project management experience.
  4. Strong financial acumen.
  5. Excellent presentation skills, including to senior executives.
  6. Expert facilitation, communication, and collaboration skills.
  7. Outstanding business acumen.
  8. Excellent organizational skills, with knowledge of quality and project management tools and techniques.
  9. Experience with process/workflow analysis, design, and implementation.
  10. Expert change management skills.
