As the Senior Director, External Reporting, the individual will be a strategic leader in enterprise finance providing valued financial governance and advice, and empowering and enabling the vision of the future of the CFO Group using innovation to drive efficiencies and provide enriched insights. The individual will lead the External Reporting team in telling the story of financial results to the public through the quarterly Report to Shareholders, Annual Report and other external disclosures. The individual will be responsible for ensuring that financial results are effectively and consistently communicated to the general public and investment community, and that external disclosures comply with key stakeholder requirements.

The individual would be a great match for this role if they have disclosure expertise (e.g. preparation of Annual Reports and Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A)) including familiarity with securities law disclosure requirements, a strong ownership posture, experience leading teams in a complex and dynamic environment, and a passion for driving process improvements.

What will you do?

• Lead the preparation and delivery of Annual Report and Quarterly Report to Shareholders
• Translate results and developments into a clear and consistent story for external stakeholders such as investors and analysts
• Communicate key disclosure matters to senior leaders at using a commercial/business lens, including through the preparation of materials for senior executives, our CFO, and the Board/Audit Committee
• Bring unique perspective and curiosity to set ambitious goals, implement process improvements, and challenge the status quo
• Lead the delivery of strategic initiatives within the Chief Accountant’s Group and more broadly within the CFO Group, including disclosure process improvements and implementing new reporting tools and technology
• Lead the organization in assessing, evaluating and responding to new disclosure and regulatory requirements impacting external disclosures
• Shape future disclosure requirements by leading advocacy efforts on developments impacting external disclosures
• Liaise with industry peers on disclosure matters as needed through industry associations (i.e. Canadian Bankers Association)
• Shape external disclosure strategy and deliver best-in-class disclosures through effective partnering with key stakeholders and benchmarking
• Support One approach to support and advance ESG reporting infrastructure within Finance, including supporting ESG disclosure reviews and production of core ESG reports, and working collaboratively with the ESG Reporting team in relation to disclosure process improvements and implementing new reporting tools and technology
• Develop strong business partner relationships with senior members from across our business segments and functions

Must-have

• Chartered Professional Accountant designation
• 10+ years of relevant work experience including experience in financial reporting
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively with executives
