Job Summary:
The Senior Director of VON’s Digital Information System (DIS) oversees the implementation and effective operation of the DIS, which includes Health Informatics, Decision and Operations Support, and Analytic Services. This role involves establishing a data governance structure that enhances service delivery to clients, coworkers, and partners, while meeting requirements from government and other funders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with operations leadership to understand VON’s operations and provide tailored support.
- Develop and implement a data analytics strategy to improve client outcomes, efficiency, and resource allocation.
- Ensure data governance policies are in place for data quality, consistency, and integrity.
- Promote data literacy across the organization.
- Oversee collection, processing, analysis, and interpretation of digital data from various sources.
- Translate complex data findings into actionable insights.
- Develop and manage dashboards and reporting tools for real-time decision making.
- Ensure scalable data infrastructure to support analytics operations.
- Measure and report on the effectiveness of the DIS.
- Manage the operation of the DIS supporting Home & Community Care and Corporate Services.
- Define the DIS vision and roadmap, ensuring alignment with strategic initiatives.
- Lead strategic planning, project planning, and budgeting for the DIS.
- Develop annual operating and capital budgets in line with organizational priorities.
- Collaborate with legal teams to ensure privacy compliance.
- Research and recommend new products and process improvements.
- Assess external vendors to ensure value, reliability, and efficiency.
- Delegate action plans to appropriate staff to meet objectives.
- Report to senior executives on DIS priorities and performance metrics.
- Partner with the Senior Vice President of Business Optimization for strategic reporting.
- Oversee technical projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with project management offices to embed best practices.
- Evolve systems and applications with innovative solutions.
- Engage with industry forums to advocate for relevant standards.
- Provide leadership and direction to staff and project managers.
- Prepare business cases and financial models for system enhancements.
- Manage DIS change management activities and ensure security controls.
- Build a positive work environment through coaching and leadership.
- Work with internal customers to identify and prioritize needs.
- Ensure IT/IS department delivers value and aligns with priorities.
- Build relationships with stakeholders and vendors.
- Collaborate on clinical care technology projects with clinical leaders.
Education, Designations, and Experience:
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 10+ years leadership in Digital Information Systems and data management.
- 5+ years using SharePoint and managing ERP environments.
- Experience with Business Intelligence reporting systems (preferably Cognos).
- Experience managing offshore/remote teams.
- Strong understanding of RDBMs, APIs, interoperability, and system integration.
- Experience with organizational change management and budgeting.
- Deep knowledge of cybersecurity, data privacy laws, and standards.
