What You’ll Be Doing

The Senior Director, Credit Provisioning (IFRS 9 Expected Credit Losses) is responsible for managing critical and high visibility functions within Risk Management, including credit provisioning risk reporting to senior management, the Board of Directors and our regulators. In addition, this role is accountable for providing oversight of the development, measurement, strategy and management of CIBC’s IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss process, including the oversight of credit risk across new and existing credit portfolios.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Reporting - Manage the Risk Management’s critical and high visibility reporting process to senior management and board-level committees. Develop key risk material and presentations for senior risk executives including synthesizing complex and detailed risk analysis and information into succinct reviews. Manage the quarterly and year-end risk reporting processes including supporting the Risk Investor Relations process, including with earnings call preparations for the Chief Risk Officer. Oversee the monitoring, measuring and reporting processes of credit risks across the bank including specific loan loss and expected credit losses.
  • Review/analysis - Monitor external risk drivers, including regulatory and economic environments to identify emerging risk themes that could influence risk levels and mitigation strategies.
  • Strategic development – Lead the strategy and execution of the enhancement and continuous improvement of the IFRS 9 ECL process, including tools to enable better insights and reporting.
  • Relationship management - Act as an advisor and provide subject matter expertise on expected credit losses (IFRS 9) to senior management including the Chief Risk Officer. Responsible for liaising and communicating with regulators as it relates to Enterprise Risk Management owned functions and policies. Create a culture of strong collaboration in partnership across Risk Management, SBUs and other functional groups to support CIBCs capability to accurately manage and report its risks.
