Job summary

Summit Search Group has been retained by a leading Canadian infrastructure company to recruit a Director, Construction for Manitoba. This executive will own the P&L for the unit, drive revenue growth and margin, and lead multiple sites with accountability for safety, schedule, and budget.

The role reports to regional leadership and requires strong financial acumen, cross-site management experience, and regular travel to project sites.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in heavy civil construction, road building, paving, or infrastructure operations.
• Experience with multi-site leadership and direct P&L accountability.
• Strong financial acumen with budgeting, forecasting, and KPI analysis.
• Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Own the P&L for the business unit, managing revenue, margin, EBITDA, and costs; set budgets and forecasts; analyze variances.
• Oversee planning, scheduling, and execution across sites; monitor production rates and cost controls.
• Promote a strong safety culture; ensure compliance with HSE policies and regulations; conduct safety audits.
• Lead and develop Site/Operations Managers and project leaders; drive recruitment and performance management.
• Manage client, municipal, and regulatory relationships; participate in contract negotiations and dispute resolution.
• Drive continuous improvement through standardization, technology adoption, and cross-team collaboration on bid strategy.
