We are seeking a Senior Digital Security Architect to assess security risks and develop practical solutions as part of a Legacy Infrastructure Security Stabilization program.
This role will focus on securing legacy environments while helping maintain business and service continuity.
6-month contract with possible extension
Remote within Alberta
35 hours/week
Must Have:
- 7+ years of cybersecurity experience, including significant security architecture experience.
- Proven experience with legacy infrastructure security, remediation or stabilization projects.
- Strong knowledge of network segmentation, infrastructure/application security and risk treatment.
- Experience designing compensating controls and practical security solutions for production environments.
- Strong knowledge of security technologies including firewalls, WAF, endpoint security, SIEM/logging and IPS.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across technical and business teams
Nice to have:
- CISSP, AWS Security Specialty, OSCP or related certification.
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Security or a related field.
- Experience with NIST CSF and CIS Controls.
- Experience in higher education, public sector or other complex enterprise environments.
- Experience working with incomplete legacy documentation and evolving technical environments.
Responsibilities:
- Assess security risks and vulnerabilities across legacy infrastructure and applications.
- Develop security architecture, compensating controls and risk-reduction strategies.
- Provide guidance on segmentation, isolation, remediation, upgrades and replacement.
- Review proposed technical changes for security, operational and service-continuity impacts.
- Develop security designs, architecture decisions and implementation guidance.
- Work closely with Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Architecture and application teams.
