Job summary

Assent is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer for the Data & AI Platform. You will design, build, and operate the infrastructure and tooling that power data pipelines, warehousing, and AI/ML workloads, collaborating with Data Engineering to remove operational friction and ensure security, reliability, and repeatability.

This role focuses on scalable IaC, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and governance of data platform infrastructure on AWS, with Snowflake, dbt, and Airflow components, and offers

• Senior-level DevOps experience applied to data pipelines, warehousing, and AI/ML workloads.
• Strong automation, security, reliability, and repeatability in platform engineering.
• Ability to design and govern data platform infrastructure with input from security and data engineering.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical quality of infrastructure and automation for the Data & AI Platform.
• Design and maintain scalable infrastructure as code and platform automation on AWS.
• Build CI/CD pipelines, deployment tooling, and environment tooling for data workloads.
• Design observability, alerting, and incident response for data platform health.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering to translate requirements into infrastructure that reduces friction.
• Stay current with emerging DevOps and data infra tech and drive adoption.

The Senior DevOps Engineer, Data & AI Platform is a technical expert dedicated to the infrastructure behind Assent's Data & AI Platform. You bring strong senior-level DevOps expertise and apply it consistently to how our data pipelines, warehousing, and AI/ML systems are built and run. Your day to day is spent designing and building the infrastructure and tooling that our data pipelines, orchestration, and warehousing systems run on, working closely with Data Engineering to understand their requirements and remove operational friction. Your strong DevOps expertise ensures this work is delivered with the rigor, automation, security, reliability, and repeatability expected of a modern DevOps practice, applied to the specific context of data and AI/ML systems. You'll need strong data platform fundamentals, a solid grounding in DevOps methodology, and the judgment to know when and how to apply one to the other. As the platform matures, you will also contribute your experience to Assent's broader DevOps practices and initiatives.

Key Requirements & Responsibilities

Own the technical quality of the infrastructure, tooling, and automation underpinning Assent's Data & AI Platform from design through delivery through sustainmentDesign, build, and maintain scalable, secure infrastructure as code and platform automation supporting data pipelines, warehousing, orchestration, and AI/ML workloads (e.g., Snowflake, dbt, and Airflow), primarily on AWS Partner directly with Data Engineering to understand pipeline, workflow, and system requirements, translating them into infrastructure and automation that removes operational frictionBuild and maintain CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and environment tooling for the data platform, applying the same rigor and repeatability expected of any modern DevOps practiceDesign observability, alerting, and incident-response practices specific to data platform workloads, so pipeline and system health is visible and actionableDesign governance, access, and security policies for data platform infrastructure in collaboration with security and data engineering stakeholdersGuide the Data Engineering team on infrastructure and deployment best practices, helping them build in a way that fits Assent's broader DevOps practicesStay current with emerging DevOps and data infrastructure technologies, and drive adoption where they meaningfully accelerate the team's objectivesAs the Data & AI Platform matures, contribute to Assent’s broader DevOps initiatives, shared infrastructure, platform standards, automation, security, reliability, and operational practices
