DUTIES

Memorial University's Faculty of Medicine is seeking an experienced fundraising professional to join a team whose work supports education and research outcomes, transforms lives, enriches the province's economic growth, and inspires the next generation of leaders. The successful candidate will manage a diverse portfolio of critical donor relationships consisting of individuals, corporations, and foundations. The Senior Development Officer- Medicine will jointly report to the Dean of Medicine and the Associate Director, Development.

The incumbent will be responsible for implementing fundraising strategies and initiatives consistent with the university's fundraising goals and campaigns; maintaining a portfolio of active donors with philanthropic capacity using our donor engagement process, in order to create and maximize donations to the university; assuming other fundraising-related management responsibilities including supervising and coaching Development staff, campaign fundraising, and the appropriate administration of fundraising processes; and performing other related duties as required.

The Senior Development Officer - Medicine will create and execute a strategy for their individual fundraising performance, as well as for specific campaigns and / or initiatives within the Faculty of Medicine. Duties include achieving an annual personal fundraising performance objective, working with the Faculty of Medicine to identify fundraising priorities, and designing, implementing, managing, and evaluating strategies and tactics to solicit major gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations. The successful applicant will manage a major gift portfolio including individuals, foundations, and corporations, developing and executing the full scope of the donor engagement process, including prospect discovery, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; support senior university leadership and volunteers with donor relationship management; ensure appropriate administration of the fundraising-management and campaign processes for the Faculty of Medicine, including documenting, tracking, reporting and managing the flow of information to appropriate internal and / or external stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

Related experience (5-7 years) in fundraising as well as resource development, relationship management, sales, and / or business development, preferably in the education, healthcare or not-forprofit sector; completion of an undergraduate degree is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. The ideal candidate will have experience cultivating prospective donors and securing major gifts; excellent relationship management skills; and the ability to exercise a high level of sophistication, tact, and discretion in both internal and external interactions. The successful applicant will bring strategic organization and planning abilities; excellent communication skills (verbal and written); proven leadership ability; strong negotiation skills; the ability to manage relationships with honesty, integrity, and commitment; sound judgment and decision-making capabilities; the ability to work independently, collaboratively, and under pressure while managing multiple timelines. Experience in managing fundraising staff and a CFRE (Certified Fund-Raising Executive) designation would be assets. Willingness to work some non-traditional hours, attend events, and to travel regularly within the country is required.

SALARY $67,414 - $91,929 per annum (Management and Professional)

Plus market differential of $18,357
