We are currently seeking a Senior Software Development Manager, Payments to join our Engineering team. This role is available to candidates in Toronto with a minimum two days a week in our Toronto office during one of our anchor days.

At Clio we strive to be both human and high performing. For Senior Software Development Managers that means growing and supporting a team of managers and individual contributors and also partnering with senior leadership to define the strategy and long term vision of their area of ownership.

Our Senior Software Development Managers are highly technical and hands on, often coding, designing, and reviewing alongside their teams. They coach and build their teams to be both strong technically and as team members. They create a safe and productive environment for all.

What You’ll Work On:

Roll up your sleeves and deep dive into the technology & code to get things done and help managers & developers better understand what is possible.

Lead a growing team focused on Clio's payments, capital and financial services portfolio.

Guide the technical strategy for innovative projects, including launching new financial services for our law firms in North America and internationally.

Directly supervise, mentor, and collaborate with engineering managers and individual contributors who are in the thick of it every day.

Partner with leadership in Product Management and Product Design to envision, develop, and execute on our product roadmap.

Work closely with the Recruiting/People team to actively recruit and hire top talent to support Clio’s ambitious growth plans for its engineering department.

About you:
  • Experienced engineering leader who's comfortable using spec-driven development, and running autonomous agents to develop, test and push code to production.
  • A background in fintech, with direct experience in payments and financial services.
  • Adept at making critical technical decisions to guide your team and ensure the long-term health of the system.
  • Proven track record in scaling services and systems with experience in projects built for scalability.
  • Adept at managing and mentoring high-performing teams, nurturing talent, and guiding individuals toward professional growth and development.
  • Experienced in crafting long-term strategies and managing technical roadmaps that pave the way for future growth.
  • Successful running agile organizations at scale, with a sense of urgency to deliver quality software to solve customer problems.
  • Demonstrated experience in promoting positive culture and diversity throughout a large engineering organization to achieve transformational change.
  • Growth mindset when it comes to process improvement and new technologies, especially AI.

This role is a backfill for an existing position.
