Senior Developer, ServiceNow - Brampton, ON

The Senior Developer, ServiceNow is responsible for designing, developing, configuring, implementing, and maintaining ServiceNow solutions that support business and technology objectives. Working closely with Loblaw Companies Limited stakeholders, end-user groups, and technical teams, this role will translate business requirements into scalable and innovative ServiceNow solutions while ensuring adherence to established platform governance, development standards, and best practices.

The Senior Developer will provide technical leadership across ServiceNow implementations and enhancements, troubleshoot complex technical issues, manage platform data and configurations, and support the continuous improvement of the ServiceNow environment across Development, QA, UAT, Training, and Production.

What You’ll Do:
ServiceNow Development & Implementation
  • Design, develop, configure, implement, and enhance ServiceNow solutions based on business and technical requirements.
  • Work with stakeholders at Loblaw Companies Limited to implement innovative solutions and continuously improve the ServiceNow platform.
  • Translate business requirements and user needs into scalable, sustainable, and maintainable technical solutions.
  • Perform core ServiceNow configuration, including Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Policies, UI Actions, Access Controls, and system policies.
Requirements & Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Identify, engage, and collaborate with key internal stakeholders, including IT and HR Call Centres, Incident and Major Incident Management, Problem Management, and Change Management teams, to understand business needs and identify opportunities for ServiceNow improvements.
  • Collaborate directly with end-user groups, business stakeholders, and technical teams to evaluate and resolve technical problems.
  • Meet with end users and stakeholders to understand business challenges, define business and technical requirements, and recommend appropriate ServiceNow solutions.
  • Facilitate discussions with stakeholders to translate operational needs into scalable, sustainable, and maintainable ServiceNow solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Platform Administration & Governance
  • Configure and maintain ServiceNow system data, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with established governance standards.
  • Manage users, groups, roles, and access controls in accordance with security and governance requirements.
  • Ensure development activities follow established ServiceNow architecture, coding, configuration, and deployment standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex platform issues while maintaining system stability and performance.
Data & Configuration Management
  • Manage and maintain ServiceNow data structures, including Tables, CMDB, Import Sets, and Update Sets.
  • Support CMDB data quality, configuration, and governance initiatives.
  • Perform data imports, transformations, and migrations while ensuring data integrity and consistency.
  • Manage and promote configuration and application changes through the ServiceNow development lifecycle.
Application & User Interface Development
  • Develop and customize ServiceNow applications and user experiences using JavaScript, Angular, Bootstrap, HTML, and CSS.
  • Build and maintain integrations, workflows, business logic, and user-facing functionality in accordance with ServiceNow development best practices.
  • Leverage ServiceNow App Engine and platform capabilities to develop scalable solutions that address evolving business needs.
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including solution designs, technical specifications, configuration details, deployment procedures, and support documentation.
  • Conduct structured knowledge transfer sessions with offshore development and support resources to ensure a clear understanding of ServiceNow solutions, configurations, development standards, and business requirements.
  • Provide ongoing technical guidance and mentorship to offshore resources supporting ServiceNow development, enhancements, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure key technical knowledge is effectively documented and transferred to support knowledge continuity, troubleshooting, ongoing development, and platform support across distributed teams.
Release & Environment Management
  • Perform application and configuration migrations across Development, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
  • Manage Update Sets and deployment activities while ensuring changes are properly tested, documented, and approved.
  • Participate in release planning, testing, defect resolution, and production implementation activities.
What you Bring:
  • ServiceNow Development Experience: 5+ years of hands‑on experience developing, configuring, and implementing solutions within the ServiceNow platform, with demonstrated experience delivering enterprise-level solutions.
  • ServiceNow Modules: Experience with ITSM, HRSD, IRM, Employee Center Pro, CMDB, and App Engine.
  • Programming & Web Technologies: Strong knowledge of JavaScript, Angular, Bootstrap, HTML, and CSS.
  • Platform Configuration: Demonstrated experience with Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Policies, Access Controls, system policies, workflows, and platform configuration.
  • Data Management: Experience working with Tables, CMDB, Import Sets, Update Sets, data migration, and data integrity.
  • Security & Access: Experience managing users, groups, roles, and access controls within ServiceNow.
  • SDLC & Deployments: Experience promoting solutions across Development, QA, UAT, Training, and Production environments.
  • Technical Documentation: Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, solution designs, configuration documentation, and support materials.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Experience providing technical guidance, mentorship, and knowledge transfer to offshore or distributed development teams.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
Required Certifications
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD)
Preferred Certification
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in one or more of the following:
    • IT Service Management (ITSM)
    • Human Resources Service Delivery (HRSD)
    • Integrated Risk Management (IRM)
