Job summary

DMC Mining Services in Vaughan, Ontario is seeking a Senior Designer, Structural to join our team on a permanent basis. The Senior Designer, Structural will be responsible for completing complex designs and drawings for fabrication and construction; including steel fabrication, welded and bolted connections, and concrete structures.

They must make independent decisions and adhere to company standards and procedures.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering / Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
• 15+ years of experience in structural design, with 3D modeling in construction/mining industries.
• Proficiency with Autodesk Revit required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced team.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Navisworks and other Autodesk software is an asset.
• Experienced in mining project environments is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develops innovative and creative structural design solutions (layout plans, sections, details) for complex mining projects.
• Works with the engineering team to develop preliminary and final designs.
• Creates 3D models in Revit and produces drawings for client delivery.
• Produces construction drawings for buildings and structures.
• Details structural elements and participates in design reviews.
• Reviews vendor drawings and field data to develop accurate drawings.
• Revises drawings to reflect actual locations and dimensions.
• Supports site design requests with prompt responses.

Summary

DMC is currently looking for a Senior Designer, Structural to join our team on a permanent basis, based in Vaughan, Ontario. The Senior Designer, Structural will be responsible for completing complex designs and drawings for fabrication and construction; including steel fabrication, welded and bolted connections, and concrete structures. They must make independent decisions and adhere to company standards and procedures. The incumbent should be familiar with the terminology and practices of the industry and must use them accurately in the preparation of designs and drawings. The incumbent will make best use of commercially available design software.

Responsibilities

• Develops innovative and creative structural design solutions (layout plans, sections, and details) to resolve various structural design challenges adding value to DMC's complex mining projects.
• Works with the engineering team to develop preliminary and final designs.
• Creates 3D models in Revit and produces drawings to issue to client.
• Produces preliminary, tender, and detailed construction drawings for buildings and structures
• Details structural elements.
• Participates in design reviews to evaluate design concepts and make recommendations.
• Reviews vendor drawings, standard details, field data and information provided by project personnel for developing drawings which show details of project features.
• Completes drawing sets for a specific item or project feature which will be used for fabrication and construction.
• Revises drawings as needed to correct details and reflect actual versus planned project feature locations and dimensions.
• Supports Site Design requests and provides prompt responses.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering / Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
• 15+ years of experience in structural design, with experience working in a 3d model environment in the construction, engineering or mining industries or a combination thereof.
• Proficiency with Autodesk Revit required.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, with the ability to set priorities.
• Ability to plan and layout drawings without supervision.
• Knowledge of applicable structural design software such as AutoCAD, Navisworks and other Autodesk software an asset.
• Understanding of construction techniques, material properties and engineering principles.
• Strong communications skills.
• Previous experience working on mining projects is an asset

Additional Information

• We are hiring to fill an existing vacancy.
• Salary Range is expected to be between: $116,050.00 to $184,200.00 CAD
• Comprehensive benefits and retirement plan.
• This role can be performed hybrid from site and remotely.
• Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge/skills, and experience.
