Scope of position :

Based on the needs of the Customer, a Senior Designer designs cost-effective formwork, shoring, and scaffolding solutions, and prepares drawings (including material take-offs) for standard and advanced custom designs. The Senior Designer attends meetings, develops direct relationships with customers, communicates directly on technical issues, schedules, trains, directs design efforts, checks, and approves work of junior team members. They take responsibility for their design work and supervise others on a project basis.

What you'll do on a typical day :

• Develop formwork, shoring, and scaffolding solutions for various construction projects using PERI’s systems.
• Create or oversee the creation of general arrangement, assembly, and steel fabrication drawings in 2D and 3D.
• Prepare sophisticated offer presentations for customers.
• Collaborate with Technical Sales Consultants for cost-effective design solutions.
• Interface with customers to understand their needs.
• Work with design professionals to ensure compliance with standards (CSA, OHSA, Building Codes).
• Perform design calculations using structural analysis software to ensure safety and economy.
• Provide design expertise and direction to interns and junior designers.
• Review and approve drawings and calculations of team members.
• Create and maintain engineering documents and material lists.
• Assist in setting work schedules and assigning tasks.
• Follow quality procedures and mentor team members.
• Visit job sites to provide technical support.

Qualifications :

• Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or related experience.
• 5+ years in structural engineering and construction.
• 3+ years with AutoCAD; 4+ years with structural analysis software.
• Formwork and scaffolding design experience is an asset.
• Leadership skills and knowledge of Canadian and European standards.
• Bilingual (English / French) is an asset.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
