Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Design Manager to join our team! In this role, you will join a professional Project Management Team that is involved in multiple projects on a confidential development.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Provides management and direction to the design consultants to ensure coordination and consistency between design and construction phases.
  • Oversees task order execution for Design Management Scope of Works under the framework agreement.
  • Manage the design consultants in fulfilling its contractual obligations in relation to scope and on time deliverables.
  • Identify and record scope changes in accordance with the change management plan.
  • Lead and record daily/weekly design progress & engineering progress meetings with the design consultants and Client and interface coordination meetings.
  • Schedule and actively participate in value engineering and constructability reviews.
  • Preparation of weekly and monthly reports on task orders progress, opportunities and blockers.
  • Manage design risks by updating the risk register on a weekly basis, liaising with the design consultants & Client to develop mitigation measures and escalating issues.
  • Support the Procurement Team with the preparation of requests for proposal (RFP) and invitation to tenderers (ITT) procurement packages.
  • Work closely with the Senior Project Manager and Commercial and Procurement Team to resolve any existing or anticipated problems related to resources, quality of work, schedule performance or productivity.
  • Support Commercial Manager with evaluation of consultants variations, claims and extension of time claims.
  • Actively participate in and champion the Continuous Quality Improvement by reviewing processes efficiency, arranging regular lessons learnt and making improvement recommendations.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Ability to work within established processes and to timelines set to deliver the design to meet downstream deadlines for procurement and construction.
  • Proven ability to perform in a supervisory/managerial capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are required.
  • Strong discipline towards keeping contemporaneous records to provide an accurate audit trail for timelines set, decisions taken and agreements made.
  • Ability to manage and influence stakeholders from the client and consultant organizations to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Ability to negotiate and contain conflicts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of stakeholders.

Minimum Clearance Required to Start:

  • Previous experience working for a PMC within a large program with multiple consultants and a large client team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture (or related field) and typically 20+ years of related work experience including 10+ years in a supervisory and managerial role.
  • Professional membership of a recognized relevant organization.
  • Must also possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and the capabilities and efficiencies of specific engineering software (AUTOCAD, Civil 3D, Revit) for use in completing engineering assignments.
