Job summary

City of Regina seeks an experienced database administrator to advise on selection, installation, and maintenance of corporate databases. You'll ensure seamless software operation and contribute to a dynamic IT team with responsibilities that include monitoring, documentation, and upgrades.

The role may require on-call duties and irregular shifts. Strong knowledge of Oracle/SQL databases and Linux is expected, with a focus on reliability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• University degree in Computer Science or related field or a 2-year diploma with systems analysis training and 3+ years in technical support.
• Knowledge of information resource management and data administration theory and tools.
• Experience with programming, analytics, and system development processes.
• Ability to install, configure, and manage database software and user access.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills to define problems and recommend solutions.
• Ability to work independently within a team with sound judgment and initiative.
• Effective written and oral communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for database systems, monitor performance, troubleshoot, and maintain.
• Develop timelines and budgets for projects.
• Document corporate database procedures and logs.
• Follow ITIL framework for IT service management.
• Install new software products and ensure smooth deployment.
• Develop standards and procedures for database operations.
• Plan and implement new database and related software/hardware.
• Evaluate new database technologies and propose enhancements.
• Perform related duties as required.
