About The Information Systems Group

We are looking for a Senior Database Administrator (Contract – 6 Months) to join our Vancouver-based Information Systems team.

Individuals applying for this position must be able to multi-task, have a strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support MS SQL operations to enhance, improve, and maintain capabilities.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of current database infrastructure, configurations, jobs, performance, and processes.
  • Perform data capacity planning and forecasting.
  • Utilize the latest industry standard tools and best practices to ensure databases meet the evolving needs of internal engineers, developers, and stakeholders.
  • Plan for database archiving and retention.
  • Fine-tune the configuration and performance of existing databases.
  • Architect database infrastructure and enhance monitoring and dashboards.
  • Review and improve the database backup and restore models.
  • Collaborate with IT and internal stakeholder groups to resolve urgent issues and implement long-term solutions.

You Are Someone With

  • Minimum of four years of recent and relevant experience working with Microsoft SQL databases.
  • Proven track record as a Database Administrator managing MS SQL databases in a Windows environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex technical issues, providing accurate analysis and recommending appropriate solutions.
  • Proficiency in writing, reviewing, and optimizing SQL queries.
  • Expertise in MS SQL database backup and recovery, archiving, replication, and high availability planning.
  • Experience with database performance tuning, access control, and capacity planning.
  • Strong, effective, and clear communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to the audience.
  • Relevant experience or certification, such as Azure Database Administrator Associate, is an advantage.

The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $140,000. The salary range provided reflects the base salary range for this position as required by legislation. In addition, there is an annual performance bonus which contributes to the total compensation of this position. Further questions may be directed to the HR team during the interview process.
