The Role

Support NRC’s Digital Technologies research Centre as a senior data scientist leading the AI Accelerator. Responsibilities include managing a team of data scientists, developing AI prototypes, and collaborating across disciplines to enhance government productivity through data analytics and responsible AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify opportunities for data science applications supporting strategic and operational decisions.
  • Clean, process, and analyze structured and unstructured data for actionable insights.
  • Build and validate statistical models using advanced techniques.
  • Support deployment and maintenance of models in collaboration with IT and engineering teams.
  • Ensure reproducibility and clarity in coding practices.
  • Visualize data insights for diverse audiences.
  • Utilize evolving data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Adhere to standards for responsible AI development.
  • Manage a team of data scientists, including hiring and supervision.
Qualifications

Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven experience in data analysis, modeling, and team management. Skills in Python, R, SQL, cloud platforms, and visualization tools are essential.

Assessment & Compensation

Candidates will be evaluated on technical and behavioral competencies. Salary range: $140,321 to $164,894, with potential adjustments based on experience. Benefits include pension, health coverage, and more.
