Job description

WHAT DOES THIS JOB ENTAIL?

The Senior Data Scientist will contribute to developing Artificial Intelligence-driven sensing solutions for the food and agriculture sector. The successful candidate will work on developing and implementing AI platforms utilizing various machine learning methodologies, including neural networks, deep learning, self/auto learning, and SVMs for diverse customer applications. Familiarity with data processing methods such as image processing, signal processing, and pattern recognition is also required.

WHAT EXACTLY WOULD YOU BE DOING?

  • Participate in developing Savormetrics’ AI Platform,
  • Lead the development of machine learning algorithms, including neural networks, deep learning, self/auto learning, and SVMs, for customer applications,
  • Develop feature engineering techniques,
  • Design and implement analytics software solutions for customers,
  • Design and implement data collection and interpretation software solutions,
  • Understand customer product requirements and how they relate to AI training and prediction,
  • Develop new algorithms using research and customer data sets to improve accuracy and efficiency for hardware devices,
  • Create, organize, manage, and analyze large datasets for R&D and product development,
  • Ensure software platforms complement hardware for optimal performance, meeting customer needs,
  • Learn customer requirements and acquire domain knowledge of the relevant business sectors,
  • Design, execute, and report on commercial testing,
  • Support development and participate in workshops, conferences, and events with internal and external stakeholders,
  • Provide second-line support for customer issues,
  • Collaborate effectively with team members,
  • Perform additional duties as required,
  • Demonstrate commitment to professional development.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE

  • High-functioning MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field,
  • At least 5 years of industry experience with machine learning, neural networks, deep learning, statistical learning, pattern recognition, and image processing for information extraction and interpretation (e.g., chemometrics),
  • Knowledge of image processing techniques,
  • Experience with software/hardware interfacing is a plus,
  • Experience in optics/scientific instrumentation is beneficial.
