The Role

We are looking for a Senior Data Quality Engineer to join the Central Technology Product Development team in support of Morningstar’s Business Intelligence Reporting. This position is based in our Toronto office. The QA Engineer is expected to improve the accuracy of Corporate System Data and improve stability of data ingestion pipelines. Active coordination will be required with Engineering, Product Managers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain testing processes for ETL workflows, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data transformations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive testing best practices and enhance testing efficiency to ensure high-quality data-driven insights.
• Understand Corporate System data related to Finance, Marketing, Sales, Workday, and Client Services to build business intelligence reporting.
• Work both independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities to meet critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment.
• Participate in team communication, planning activities, Agile stand-ups, iteration planning, and retrospectives.
• Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and provide production support.
• Clearly present and communicate test plans and results.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 4-5 years of Quality Assurance experience.
• Expertise in writing SQL queries and performance tuning is required.
• Proficiency in API testing using Postman is required.
• Experience with Python scripting for test automation is required.
• Experience with Business Intelligence Reporting tools like Tableau and/or Informatica is a plus.
• Experience in financial services is a plus.
• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts is a plus.
• Familiarity with AWS or other cloud service providers is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and planning skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, global environment while maintaining high-quality work.
• Experience working in Agile environments, particularly Scrum methodology, and familiarity with tools like JIRA for backlog and sprint management.
