Job summary

Match Group is seeking a Sr. Data Engineer to join the new Core Data team, blending data engineering with product-minded delivery. You will help deliver data products across Tinder, Hinge, Match, and more, supporting multiple business units with scalable ETL and data modeling.

You will collaborate with engineering to ensure data flows from creation to presentation, promote best practices, and expand data capabilities in AWS/Databricks. Strong communication and workshop facilitation are valued.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional/industry experience.
• Expertise in SQL, data modeling, lakehouse architecture, and Python.
• Experience with Redshift, Airflow, AWS QuickSight, Databricks, Spark, and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server).
• Ability to drive initiatives and articulate their value to engineering and stakeholders.
• Experience delivering data products from conception to delivery.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience facilitating workshops across disparate groups.
• Passion for designing elegant data solutions and platforms.

Responsibilities

• Work with engineering teams to ensure data flows accurately from creation to presentation layers.
• Advocate for the Core Data team by championing best practices around scale, performance, and privacy.
• Improve the data technology stack through containerization, data modeling, ETL pipeline development, and building scalable/reliable solutions.
• Translate stakeholder needs into action items and deliverables.
• Create high-quality, business-ready data solutions suitable for non-engineers.
• Proactively brainstorm new metrics and data views for business partners.
• Maintain the data library - core metric definitions, sample data, access tips.
• Train brand data analysts to support data needs at their dating brand.
• Communicate regularly with key customers; maintain accurate release notes for platform changes.
• Represent internal customers - advocate for changes, resourcing, re-architecture, or blockers.
• Support existing on-prem infrastructure and help expand into the cloud (AWS/Databricks).

We're looking for a Sr. Data Engineerto join our new Match Group Core Data team. This new position is a hybrid role combining the technical expertise of a data engineer with the product-focused mindset of a product manager - ensuring data is effectively leveraged to build and improve data products for all brands and business units in Match Group.

The Core Data team is a service organization that delivers data and reporting solutions across the entire Match Group enterprise, supporting Marketing, Product, Finance, Accounting, Strategy, and Analytics teams for every brand (Tinder, Hinge, Match, OkCupid, PlentyOfFish, BLK, Chispa, and more).

How you'll make an impact:

The salary range for this position is $135,000-$143,000.Factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence the base pay offered. This salary range is reflective of a position based in Vancouver, CA. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state) if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
