Job summary

Scotiabank is seeking a Senior Manager – Data Platforms in Toronto to lead a team of engineers ensuring stability, scalability, and security of data platforms. You will drive reliability, incident management, and collaboration across Platform, Security, Cloud Ops, Networking, and Data Governance teams.

The role emphasizes aligning the data & AI technology roadmap with enterprise standards, managing budgets, and mentoring a diverse team to achieve year-end goals.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive IT experience in large organizations
• 5+ years of leading large, diverse teams
• 5+ years of experience managing enterprise data platforms
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms
• Experience with reliability engineering, monitoring tools, and incident management
• Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills

Responsibilities

• Provide clear direction to the team and align goals with Data & AI technology roadmap and standards
• Build and maintain partnerships with stakeholders to enable delivery of operating model and support structures
• Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and best practices to improve service delivery
• Define and manage SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs; implement reliability strategies and observability practices
• Lead incident response, communications, and post-incident analysis with actionable follow-ups
• Analyze, triage, and resolve platform issues to meet reliability objectives
• Lead vulnerability management and coordinate security scans and audits
• Develop and maintain documentation for policies and operational controls
• Lead IT staff development, staffing plans, and career growth
• Assist in financial planning and vendor management; manage SOWs and invoicing
