Job description

One of our Financial Services clients is building a world-class data organization that leverages artificial intelligence and modern cloud-native architectures to transform how capital markets professionals access and consume data.

We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to support the design and delivery of enterprise-grade data solutions across a cloud-based data platform. In this role, you will partner with business stakeholders, data architects, and engineering teams to drive requirements, improve data quality, and help establish scalable data models supporting multiple asset classes and front-office functions.

Work Model: Hybrid - office attendance required 4 days per week (Monday-Thursday); remote work available on Fridays.

Responsibilities

• Analyze cross-asset data from internal and external sources to understand data lineage, relationships, and data quality gaps
• Gather, document, and manage business and technical requirements
• Decompose complex initiatives into clear functional and technical requirements
• Support the design and implementation of scalable data models and standardized data structures
• Perform data gap analysis and identify quality issues early in project lifecycles
• Collaborate with upstream teams to define data contracts and drive remediation efforts
• Partner with business and engineering teams to resolve data and integration challenges
• Leverage AI tools for data exploration, profiling, mapping, and model prototyping
• Support rapid proof-of-concepts using cloud-based data platforms
• Contribute to data strategy and architectural decision-making

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field
• 5+ years of IT experience
• Proven experience as a Business Analyst in data-intensive environments
• 2+ years of experience supporting data architecture, data modeling, or data strategy initiatives
• 1+ year of experience in capital markets with exposure to multiple asset classes (equities, fixed income, derivatives, FX, commodities)
• Strong understanding of trading workflows, trade lifecycle processes, and market data structures
• Experience with FIX (Financial Information Exchange) protocol
• Strong API and integration experience
• Advanced SQL and Python skills for data analysis, profiling, and transformation
• Understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and real-time data integration
• Experience working with cloud-based data lake or lakehouse environments
• Practical experience using AI tools to enhance data analysis, modeling, and requirements gathering
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Nice to have

• Familiarity with data from major financial ISVs and market data providers
• Experience applying AI/ML techniques for data analysis, data quality assessment, or automated model generation
• Hands-on experience using generative AI tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar solutions
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platforms
• Knowledge of data governance and data quality frameworks

This posting includes a base salary range EPAM Canada would reasonably expect to pay the selected candidate.
