Job summary

RBC is seeking a skilled data professional to join the Metadata/Data Lineage team. You will strategically plan and manage the implementation of data lineage extraction and documentation, coordinating across AML, Risk, Compliance, Finance and Wealth Management to meet objectives on time.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of data analysis, data engineering, or software development experience.
• Strong SQL and Python programming skills for data extraction and tooling.
• Experience with regular expressions and Bash/Unix scripting for data manipulation.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly, especially legacy or undocumented code.
• Internal locus of control: ability to identify and remove blockers and drive solutions independently.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, validate, and document data lineage from complex legacy systems across AML, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and Wealth Management.
• Design and execute SQL queries and Python scripts to extract data relationships and lineage information from undocumented or minimally documented legacy systems.
• Build and maintain reusable frameworks and tools that scale across multiple systems and departments.
• Research and prototype AI/agent-based approaches to automate data lineage discovery.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with business teams, data engineers, and platform teams to understand data flows and validate lineage.
• Work independently to identify blockers, develop solutions, and elevate issues appropriately.
• Perform data quality assessments and identify gaps or inconsistencies in lineage data.
• Document findings and approaches to help scale lineage discovery to other systems across the bank.
