Role Summary

Reporting into the Chief Product & Technology Officer, we’re seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the creation of a modern, AI-powered data foundation from the ground up. In this role, you’ll shape how data flows, is processed, and powers intelligence across the organization - combining real-time processing, scalable architecture, and advanced AI pipelines. This is an opportunity to build at 0-to-1 scale, applying deep expertise in the modern data stack to deliver secure, reliable, and future-ready systems that drive innovation.

What You'll Do

• Architect scalable and resilient systems for data orchestration and AI workflows.
• Build and maintain data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and analytics.
• Design and implement APIs to support real-time inference, data services, and integration with AI models.
• Develop efficient storage, caching, and data retrieval strategies across structured and unstructured data.
• Build observability and monitoring solutions to ensure data quality and track AI model performance.
• Ensure enterprise-grade security, reliability, and compliance across the data stack.
• Create self-improving data systems that evolve based on usage patterns and feedback loops.

Must Haves

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, and/or Java.
• Proficiency in API development using REST, GraphQL and/or gRPC.
• Experience in real-time data processing and streaming systems with distributed, event-driven architectures.
• Hands-on experience with modern data storage and processing (e.g. SQL, NoSQL, Data Lakes).
• Proficiency in ETL/ELT and orchestration tools (e.g. Apache Kafka, Airflow, Spark, Databricks).
• Experience in AI/ML model inferencing and context engineering.
• Deep understanding of data governance, security, lineage, and compliance.

Nice to Haves

• Knowledge of vector databases, embedding techniques, and document chunking for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems.
• Experience fine-tuning and customizing machine learning or foundation models.
• DevOps and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience.
• Mobile backend services and API development.
